The writer thanks the discusser for his interest in the two papers of Gyasi-Agyei (2007, 2011). Further work has since been carried out (Gyasi-Agyei 2013) to explain the methodology better using the same lateral downhill data sets presented in Gyasi-Agyei (2011) in addition to the uphill cases. As clearly explained in the Gyasi-Agyei (2011), the objective was not to evaluate the different problems facing designers but to present a statistical framework for identifying field hydraulic parameters that might be different from those supplied by the manufacturer. Appropriate values of these hydraulic parameters are required by designers irrespective of the specific design situation facing them
